MOTIVATING MENTALLY RETARDED STUDENTS BY USING THE QUIZIZZ APPLICATION IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING (tesis)
This study was to research students’ motivation for using the Quizizz
application in a special need school for mentally retarded students and how
Quizizz applications used by teachers at special needs schools (SKh) 01
Serang city. This research design was case studies. Researcher observed
and interviewed the teacher and a ninth-grade mentally retarded student
(Tunagrahita) at SKh Negeri 01 Kota Serang. The findings of this research
showed that using Quizizz in special need school (SKh) 01 Serang city started
with the teacher socializing or introducing the Quizizz application especially
for ninth grade to become comfortable with the online assessment method. In
the Quizizz implementation, the teacher also used the features of Quizizz that
very helpful. The responses of students towards using the Quizizz based on
interview with mentally retarded students explained that (1) Most of students
agree that Quizizz is interesting, motivating, and fun and Quizizz create a
competitive atmosphere; (2) Quizizz is interesting with many helpful features;
(3) A competitive atmosphere can be created because Quizizz has many
challenging features so the students encouraged to be the number one on the
Quizizz leaderboard. Quizizz application could motivate mentally retarded
students in English language teaching.
