THE USE OF DUOLINGO APP TO ENHANCE LEARNER’S VOCABULARY IN LANGUAGE LEARNING CLASSROOM (A Case Study in the Eight Grade of MTs. Mathla’ul Anwar Sadatani) tesis
This study used a case study design and the data were
collected through observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The
data were analyzed, interpreted and discussed using the theories of
duolingo (Vesselinov & Grego, 2012), vocabulary (Schmitt, 2008) and
language learning classroom (Jašková & Veronika, 2014). In general,
the results reveal that a positive effect of learners‟ ability in mastering
vocabulary through using Duolingo. Based on the questionnaire, the
result of the research showed that the use of Duolingo in teaching
English has many positive effects to the learners, such as: the
learners are more motivated in learning; make learners easy to
understand the material; getting the opportunity for fair turn in practicing
the material; less boredom in learning; getting encourage for new ideas;
facilitated in remembering and practicing the material in daily life. They
also learn enthusiastically in teaching learning activities. The learners
showed positive attitude toward the implementation of Duolingo. It is
recommended that duolingo apps enhance learner‟s vocabulary in
language learning classroom.
